Badminton, Club & a Turtle?

A few weekends ago my hubby and I were at the Melaka Sports Club for the inter-factory games. It was a pretty hot afternoon. They had all sorts of sports; badminton, netball, soccer, etc... it lasted till the evening where we had dinner there too! On the way to our car (the whole area was just by the beach facing the Melaka Straits), we saw a HUGE Turtle being chased by the guard at the guard house towards the sea. He didn't want that turtle to get hurt, neither it's eggs to be taken away. We were running our way there to see a live turtle for the first time in our lives. An interesting experience all the way :)

My Latest Trip

My latest trip was to Kuching then Langkawi and Alor Setar... What a trip...

It all began on 1st - 4th March 2007, when we went back for a very short holiday before the Chinese New Year ended. Had a dinner at Li Garden that sucked (the service and food weren't that good that night and lotsa wrong orders). The trip consisted of 1 1/2 hours taxi to LCCT and back, and 1h 40 min of flight to and fro from LCCT to Kuching.

On 5th March 2007, I had to immediately fly to Langkawi, of which AirAsia cancelled my flight and pushed me to a slightly later flight. I spent 3 days and 2 nights at Langkawi and stayed in Aseania Resort. Not a good choice as the breakfast only had 4 gleaming buffet warmer trays (rice/ noodle, sausage, baked beans, bread pudding or some kind of kuih) apart from the usual cereal, porridge, eggs - cooked any style, and bread. Oh... and it was the first time I sat on a motorcycle (as a passanger mind you) :P I was dealing with the client until it almost reached my checkout time at the hotel. So one of the staff, Siti, was kind enough to offer me a ride. Btw, I had to walk to work daily as it's about 5 mins walk +- from the hotel to the client site.

On 7th March 2007, I took an express boat over to Kuala Kedah and fetched by the client (this time it's a Nissan Sentra) and checked into Sentosa Regency Hotel. Pretty old hotel, cheaper than Aseania but had better breakfast and even has Internet access in the room (bring your own network cable or you'll have to pay for the cable rental) and has newspaper "of your choice" to be sent to you every morning.

Finally, returned home on the only morning flight (one morning flight every day). That afternoon I had to work (darn).

Anyhoo, that's about it for my long trip. :)

Alor Setar - Part II

Okay okay... so I wasn't really able to keep my word on having to put up Part II so soon... anyway I was there for 3 full days working 12 hours straight (according to their office hours - since their branches are in shopping malls). Apparently that kind wore me down pretty much. I felt like a jelly by the time I reached home... How I missed the bed until I reached Melaka... Unfortunately, I still had to work the extra half day in office after I reached Melaka... so it's like TONS of emails rolling in + bugs/ issues to solve + compiling the stuff from the trip + trying to get some sleep...

Anyway now that's over,... We're overall doing pretty well here so far... my husband is a Service Delivery Manager... somewhat an Operations Manager for his company for the entire branch... it's got him pretty worked up... seeing him tired daily and now he's getting sick... good thing he went to the doctor this morning... hope he gets well soon so that I can get to go to KL this weekend for some CNY shopping... and BAK KUA!!! :)

Sorry for the delay. Won't be posting up the pics yet... perhaps till after this weekend. We're planning to go up to Kuala Selangor and keep in touch with some fire flies... in nature... :P Our first time there. Some colleagues thought it would be fun so we tagged along. Will begin travelling again next week and the week after... frequenting Alor Setar and a trip to Langkawi :)... will update you all on this!

There actually wasn't much to this weekend, just that my parents came over since they wanted to make their USA visa since they'll be visiting some friends and attending a wedding there early next year. They spent Friday and Saturday night at our place in Melaka... and had tons of FOODDDD :) Dad now "complains" that he's been overly fed for Saturday and Sunday evening's dinner.

We had a "high cholesterol" weekend. Seafood on Saturday at the Portugese village and some "thong shui" sweet delicacies in Melaka and Japanese Buffet at Jogoya (Star Hill) on Sunday evening. That's the best and biggest Japanese buffet that I've ever been and something that I've never imagined. We were not even able to try out everything in just one "shot"! The mouth watering oysters, Alaskan crabs, prawns... OMG!!!

Parents stayed at Micasa Hotel & Apartments. Nice nice place... a flip of their Room Service food rates... O_o nothing below RM30 for food and nothing below RM15 for dessert!!! Lucky them getting a corporate rate! :) Else I'd reckon it'll "cost a bomb"!

Anyway, I'm back to work now... will post some pics up in the near future... *if I remember*...

Alor Setar - Part I

I just got back at around 1115am just now... what a tiring one day trip.

2nd November 2006 - Wake up at 3am, taxi arrive at 4+am, reach LCCT 6+am & have McD's Big, departure 715am, reach Alor Setar 8+am, check-in airport, go straight to work, lunch (on the client's boss - vegetarian food - yup, he's a vege guy), back to work till almost 7pm, went back to hotel, bath, dinner at 8pm, went to a non air conditioned seafood restaurant (dinner on company boss), went back to hotel, had their complimentary drink, back to the room and slept around 1030pm

3rd November 2006 - Wake up at 6am, breakfast 7am, taxi arrive at 730am, left Alor Setar 835am, reached LCCT at 9+am, took a taxi home and reached home around 1115am... lunch at 12 then back to office... O_o

We usually will have 1/2 hour to 1 hour every monday after office hours 530pm onwards to catch up on each person's progress in the various projects/ programs that everyone is handling. From programmer, to project manager to the big boss... Which I think is good as it is able to assist in keeping things on schedule or at least everyone knows where you stand and are able to make amendments where required...

Anyway... during today's meeting the boss updated what will be my task... to support and handle a program for a new company... that has 5 branches across Malaysia. The first stop is Alor Setar... of which I will pit stop after Raya... (actually supposed to be this week but he postponed it)... so hopefully things turn out okay... sigh... I miss home... I miss you guys too...

Third Day... and Surviving...

Today's my THIRD DAY at work in the new place... A software house, something more diversified... I'll be supporting a few softwares, starting with a software for the optimatrist, property and accounts... and yes, I'll be travelling around Malaysia to do this support thing as well... But mostly for a couple of days or so... nothing big

Job feels slow at the moment since it's just getting to know the stuff and what's to know about what I need to do... We'll see what happens next aye? :) Miss ya guys back in Kuching!!!

Changing New Shoes

I'm changing jobs again... The job that I had had a medical benefit of claiming RM100 per year!!! OMG... I'm not superman or something... Apart from that its other benefits are not as good either, plus, I felt that I was doing the same thing over again as I did for Poseidon... still boring stuff and same old things for me. I'll be moving on to another company as Support Specialist and will probably help in closing a deal in Ipoh... yup... they said I had to go there for 2-3 days to have a look see and discussion and to help confirm the deal.

Hope all goes well... I start work on Monday... :) I'm a free person again! :) ... for now till Monday that is... :P

Short Stop

Good morning!... Just a short stop to say things are okay here in Melaka. Learning a whole bunch of new roads and getting them mixed up too... :P "As long as I know how to go to work and back"... Anyway... Things seem to be going fine... today will be my 3rd day at work... Gotta deal with some company willing to purchase some switches and printers... gtg! :)

My First Server & Mirroring...

FYI, it's my first try in installing and mirroring a server... *Ack*... Well, it's not a new job etc, I know how to deal with PC's... Servers, well it's not too different when it comes to installing Windows OS... yeah yeah... "kacang" ... "a piece of cake" ... how about mirroring for the first time...

Browsing through Wikipedia... I found RAID 0,1,2,3,4... O_o ... the list goes on! OMG... *thinks* I only have 2 Serial ATA drives... need to mirror = RAID 1. "Pokes nose into the CD pack" ... *Install a bunch of things*... *ACK*... Cant find my HDD?... but but... during boot up... both my HDD are indicated as HEALTHY! ...

*Punch in 1-800-88-xxxx* ... "Press 6 for...* *BEEP"

"Hello, this is D... How can I help you?"

... ask a bunch of questions... Already created my RAID 1 and mirrored the drives... need to install the device drivers before my HDD can be detected... *thinks that the User Manual didn't state about anything in the server... darn... stupid CD's that don't tell you anything* ...

*Run's the CD... Keep's finger crossed*

Jessica plays a role as an Iban girl which practically "serves" as a Sleeping Dictionary, where she learns the language from the person she sleeps with and to teach her partner on the local culture and language. She fell in love with a British guy and they both intended to get married but it was not allowed by each others culture etc. Eventually lots of stuff got in between then the guy left Sarawak and came back again a year later with a wife (yeah, he got married). Eventually he looked for Selima (Jessica) and wanted to see their son and eventually found them. Yes, in the end they managed to get together with and bring up their son together.

Comments:

Not a movie for everyone of every age or race. To be watched with an open mind. And yes, her speech in local dialect still has an American accent.

I'll finally be leaving this company in 12 days... not 12 days of Christmas though... Apparently leaving friends and family too at a later date... "Leaving on a jetplane, don't know when I'll be back again..." --- Thats for sure...

Can't wait to live in a new place but also will miss home... "Home is where the heart is." I guess that's true... I'm definitely going to miss my parents and everyone else lots... Good thing there's Streamyx at the new place though...

Anyway... time to think on what else to pack...

Trembling Monitor...

There's renovation going on for the past I don't-remember-any-more months above us. Last year it was below us (Ground Floor) and it turned out to be TNT. Earlier this year it was beside us and it turned out to be a car accessory shop... Now I wonder who will be our neighbour next.

Apparently all that drilling and welding and constant hammering is driving my colleagues and I deaf and mentally mad especially unable to concentrate on our work... well, we could TRY... :P Anyway, it's either the drilling/ welding that causes our monitor to quiver and shake... not literally as in the physical, but more like the screen it displays... Makes me giddy and feel like puking... :P I'd rather play counterstrike!!! (Although I got sick of it after 2 hours playing that on LAN a few years back).

Anyway... it's almost time to start working again... *getting sleeeepyyyyy* will save other ramblings for another day...

Today well... actually yesterday... some of my colleagues saw something shiny on my hand that was different... but they only confirmed with me today... :) ...

I have registered during the weekend and wore the wedding ring... I thought no one would have seen but some people has really sharp eyes! :D Plus me "hiding" at the back room most of the time... It was nothing big to brag about... No ceremony what-so-ever... just some paper work and a few pictures. We're still KIV the plan for next year... hopefully all will turn out as we hope it to be... :)

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the event, BUT! I'm here to document it. :P

Anyway I was in the airport on Sunday evening, while walking in the Departure hall, I saw a lizard crawling on the floor! OMG! :o Imagine all those people walking by, not looking on the floor and this little lizard goes... OH NO!!! ARGHHHHH! ACK! SIAM AH! ... The poor thing was trying to find a safe place away from everyone's feet, trolleys and such.

Right before it made a safe journey between a couple of signboards, two little boys saw this lizard and tried to go after it and frighten it to make it run as fast as it could. Good thing their parents called them or else I would have been seeing the end of that little lizard being tortured and stomped by two kids.

The last time I was in Melaka...

... sitting in a car with a Kuching carplate and stopped at a traffic light as it turned red. Not long after we heard a honk nearby... but didn't bother as we knew we already stopped for sometime so "it shouldn't be our car". Then there was a second honk from the same direction... we turned our head looking around and to our left there was a guy with his wind shield down trying to say something to us...

"OH NO? Is there something wrong with our car?", I wondered.

Wound down the wind shield and the guy spoke to us in Mandarin asking... "Where does this 'Q' carplate come from??".

With a pretty puzzled look, we replied in Mandarin, "It's a Kuching carplate!" and smiled back at him.

Then he said, "OH! Thank you!" with a big smile on his face.

That really felt weird having being asked such a question though... then we started laughing on the queer situation as we drove off when the light turned green.

I'm getting lazy! :Þ Well, apparently I haven't been updating the blog as I've been taking time out watching movies, resting, stressing out, dealing with my company, working, studying, going insane... well that about sums things up I guess. I'll be going to the Semi-Finals of the Malaysian Open held in Kuching this Saturday! :) Once every 14 years in Kuching... and this is my first time there for the Malaysian Open... FYI, its Badminton.

Can't wait to take leave on Friday so that I can get my other stuff done... *sigh* typical of me to take a day off to get things done rather than to rest... *sigh* what a waste tho... however, I do hope that Saturday's match is a great one! :) 10 games all in all O_o And yes, my camera's definitely tagging along too! :)

Well, just 3 pictures that aren't too clear as my phone has only 1.3 megapixels and no flash... with bad lighting... well that's the best I could come up with.

And yesterday, I attended this wedding... I was expecting some grand entry and such (the usual) into the ballroom? Well, the couple marched in to "Kuch kuch kutahae"!!! I was thinking to myself... Indian music, Chinese couple, English style wedding... How queer, yet unique! :) Bless our Asian souls! :)

Weird happenings? Yeah... since that there's only a handful of us today... we're gonna have a Maggi Hot Cup gathering for tea break! :) I'm having the usual but scruptious CHICKEN FLAVOUR... while others are going for Tom Yam, Curry and Vegetable! :) Woohoo... oh... it's starting now... BYE!!! :)

Yup, the holidays are a comin'. Can't wait for some timeout... I wonder what I can do... pretty long weekend... 4 days! WOOHOO! ... going to start it off watching "Over the Hedge" and later on "X-Men" yup... the third of the trilogy...

The last movie I watched was "Da Vinci Code". Do watch with an open mind though should you be ultimately religious over this movie. Overall I'd rate it at a 7/10 for the story line etc. However, they should go into details on how they solve those little clues... but none-the-less an okay movie.

Sorry for the long wait... I have been awfully busy with work and studies... the only "spare time" i actually have left for the past few mths is 1 movie at the cinemas, eating, sleeping, spending time with "mother nature", driving and a bit of badminton... sigh... what a life... well... it's getting late... time to get some rest... which i don't actually get a full nights rest anyway... *stupid dreams*
